Competition

Our team’s primary goal is to enter and compete in the annual AUVSI (Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International) student AUV competition. This competition is aimed at “advancing the state-of-the-art of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) by challenging a new generation of engineers to perform realistic missions in the underwater environment and to foster ties between young engineers and the organizations developing AUV technologies.”

The competition requires a vehicle to perform a series of visual, acoustic, and other sensor-based tasks autonomously while submerged. In the past, tasks have involved locating and retrieving beacons, finding and following landmarks.
