DuPont Crop Protection is seeking to fill the position of Research Investigator - Process Development Engineer located at the Stine-Haskell facility in Newark, DE.  The business has a robust pipeline of agricultural products that anticipate our customers’ needs and contribute to their long-term prosperity while advancing agriculture.  The cross-functional team of process engineers and chemists are advancing our pipeline by developing the processes to scale-up and commercialize these next generation offerings. Critical to success is the development of robust and commercially viable processes, safe operation of process development facilities and scale up to commercial production facilities. For key technologies, the process development engineers serve as consultants for existing manufacturing operations and supply chains.  For prioritized projects, support of technology improvement and operations initiatives including alternate sourcing and supply chain improvement is necessary. The identification and evaluation of new business opportunities is also a key role.

Description

The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting characterization studies on new drug candidates to define biophysical and chemical properties using different analytical tools. Develop parenteral dosage forms for clinical and commercial use, and conduct optimization and scale up studies. Generate data for regulatory filings, participate on project teams to assure successful drug product technology transfer from R&D to clinical manufacturing and commercial sites. Issue periodic reports and assure compliance of the laboratory environment and work generated with corporate and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

EDUCATION PREFERRED: Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Bioengineering or related disciplines

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: M.S.5 8 years Ph.D. 0 to 3 years.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of protein structure, chemistry, stability and fundamental principles of pharmaceutical science essential for the development of injectable dosage forms particularly for protein therapeutics Hands on experience with analytical instrumentation, such as SEC, SDS PAGE, IEF , spectroscopy and microcalorimetry . Experience with biophysical characterization, thermodynamics and mechanistic understanding of proteins with excipients is desired. Good written and verbal communication as well as having good interpersonal skills and be an effective team player.
