Southwestern Medical Center Graduate Program

The “Mechanisms of Disease & Translational Science” (MoD) Graduate Track is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)-sponsored Med into GradInitiative. MoD will train PhD students to become leaders of the next generation of translational scientists. MoD trainees will have new opportunities to study human diseases at the interface between basic and clinical sciences. They will be empowered to spearhead the bidirectional translation of discoveries between the “bench” and “bedside” to harness the explosion of scientific knowledge to improve human health.

Job Description

Develop software tools, algorithms, physical models, and methodologies to support the development and optimization of leadership process technologies and device architectures. Specific duties will include active participation in defining the modeling and simulation tool scope, development of tools, algorithms, physical models and methodologies, and application of modeling capabilities to understand fundamental issues in process/device design to accelerate technology development. The individual is expected to actively participate in process technology teams as well as specific tool development teams. Development and application areas include advanced device transport, quantum effects, electronic structure, novel device and memory operation, optoelectronics, mesh generation, software architecture and numerical methods for device problems. The responsibilities will include software and model development, data analysis and support of external interactions.
