Spring ‘09 message from Prof. Gray
Dear ChemBE students:
Welcome back to JHU for the Spring semester! The Hopkins ChemBE Career Network (HCCN) will continue to provide you with postings of professional opportunities (full time positions, internships, co-ops) as we hear about them. With the global financial crisis, the job market is going to be very tight this year. Nevertheless, there are opportunities. Now is the time to accelerate or jump-start your search. Be prepared to send many applications, and be patient! You are gaining a valuable and flexible skill set here at Hopkins, and I am looking forward to seeing the meaningful work that you find.
Remember to take advantage of the Career Center (http://www.jhu.edu/careers) and their J-Connect system (https://jhu-csm.symplicity.com/students). They have additional job listings and a variety of seminars and resources to help you prepare for your career. In this climate, you will want to have a polished resume, impeccable interview skills, and as many leads as possible–so use the Career Center resources to your advantage! Mark your calendar for the Science, Engineering, and Technology Career Fair on Wed., Feb. 11.
Juniors and Seniors: there are a number of “Research Experiences for Undergraduates”, or REU, programs now posted, and summer intern recruiting is heating up.
I hope you’ve found the HCCN “blog” format useful–you can now search and lookup postings by keyword. Please let me or Taek know if you have any feedback or suggestions.
Best regards,
Jeff Gray
