We are rapidly expanding our technology team and are seeking a talented Senior Research Associate who can successfully bridge and innovate across the different disciplines of engineering, biology, chemistry, and mathematics. You must be able to rapidly learn new technologies, be a self-starter, take initiative to apply your skills to complex research problems, and innovate solutions for real-world problems. An intense passion for learning and expanding your skills and knowledge is essential for you to be part of our team. In this position, you will get the chance to be in the middle of many different activities – research, engineering, and manufacturing. By working with all of these teams, you will have the opportunity to tackle real practical issues that require innovative solutions across different disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Help design, build, and evaluate next-generation nano-scale biosensors.
• Design and execute “hands-on” bench-level chemistry experiments to characterize and analyze biosensor systems with blood and aqueous samples.
• Write MatLab and SQL-based code to analyze large data sets from high-throughput production of biosensors.
• Design and develop databases to facilitate handling of these large data sets.
• Develop statistical algorithms to identify patterns, develop predictive models and automate reporting and visualization of results.
• Translate these findings into manufacturing process improvements to streamline highthroughput production activities.
• Manage technical relationships with off-shore manufacturing partners (including regular site visits), covering areas such as reagent chemistry, screen-printing, mechanical assembly, etc.
• Regularly update Management team and other departments through presentations and written communication.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Technical Requirements:
o MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
o 3-5 years experience and demonstrated skill performing bench-level hands-on experiments in a chemistry lab.
o 3-5 years experience designing databases and analyzing large data sets.
o 3+ years industry experience working in a mass production environment.
o Experience handling blood.
o Excellent analytical skills including Design of Experiments (DOE), stoichiometry, mathematics, and data handling.
o Strong programming experience, including MatLab, SQL, and Excel.
• General Requirements:
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to present research findings to peers and management.
o Ability to work both independently with minimal direction and as a team player in a flexible and interdisciplinary environment.
o Eagerness to challenge yourself to learn new technologies in a fast-paced research and product-development environment.
• Preferred:
o General PC and web programming skills, including VB, VBA, PHP, Perl, etc.
o Experience developing medical products and/or working in a a regulated environment.
o Experience with mass production and interfacing with manufacturing operations. o Knowledge of electrochemistry, biosensors, and mass transport.
o Familiarity with general chemistry laboratory equipment such as microbalances, compressed gas, auto-titrators, spectrophotometers, etc.
