Description

We are rapidly expanding our technology team and are seeking a talented Research Associate who can successfully bridge and innovate across the different disciplines of engineering, biology, chemistry, and mathematics. You must be able to rapidly learn new technologies, be a self-starter, take initiative to apply your skills to complex research problems, and innovate solutions for real-world problems. An intense passion for learning and expanding your skills and knowledge is essential for you to be part of our team. In this position, you will get the chance to see how “theory meets practice” by using your skills in  mathematical analysis to provide valuable feedback to the chemistry side of the R&D efforts.  You will also have the opportunity to get your hands dirty by helping out with some of the chemistry work and seeing how the two ends meet by making new biosensors in our labs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Use MatLab to develop data-mining algorithms for analysis, predictive modeling, and visualization of biosensor performance.
• Design and develop databases to manage and interpret experimental data to develop algorithms for next-generation biosensors.
• Assist Research Team evaluate sensor performance with chemistry experimentation.
• Help develop, build, and evolve next-generation nano-scale biosensors.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Technical Requirements:
o BS in Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
o 1-3 years experience with datamining and databases.
o 1+ years experience performing basic (college-level) wet chemistry experimentation.
o Strong analytical skills, including statistics, mathematics, data handling, and Excel.
o Strong programming skills, including MatLab, SQL, VB, VBA, PHP, Perl, etc.
• General Requirements:
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to present research findings to peers and management.
o Ability to work both independently with minimal direction and as a team player in a flexible and interdisciplinary environment.
o Eagerness to challenge yourself to learn new technologies in a fast-paced research and product-development environment.
• Preferred:
o Familiarity with firmware development for devices.
o Experience developing medical and analytical equipment.
o 3+ years of performing wet chemistry experiments in a commercial or research setting. o Knowledge of electrochemistry, biosensors, and mass transport.
o Familiarity with general laboratory equipment (e.g. microbalances, compressed gas, auto-titrators, spectrophotometers, etc.) and experience handling blood samples.
