Description

We are rapidly expanding our technology team and are seeking a talented Research Associate who can successfully bridge and innovate across the different disciplines of engineering, biology, chemistry, and mathematics. You must be able to rapidly learn new technologies, be a self-starter, take initiative to apply your skills to complex research problems, and innovate solutions for real-world problems. An intense passion for learning and expanding your skills and knowledge is essential for you to be part of our team. In this position, you will get the chance to see how “theory meets practice” by using your skills in wet chemical experimentation to research real, practical challenges and give valuable feedback to the engineering and analytics side of the R&D efforts. You will also have the opportunity to see how chemical insights get incorporated into signal processing algorithms by helping to analyze and interpret your results and seeing how the two ends meet.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Help create and build next-generation nano-scale biosensors.
• Design and perform experiments to probe the biochemical and electrochemical responses from biosensor devices.
• Analyze experimental data using computational tools and work with the Engineering and Manufacturing teams to implement next-generation technologies.
• Evaluate biosensors in real-world clinical settings (possible travel in US and Europe).

QUALIFICATIONS
• Technical Requirements:
o BS in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
o 0-3 years commercial experience with wet chemistry experimentation.
o Familiarity with general laboratory equipment (e.g. microbalances, compressed gas, auto-titrators, spectrophotometers, etc.) and experience handling blood samples.
o Excellent analytical skills including mathematics, data handling, and using Excel.
• General Requirements:
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to present research findings to peers and management.
o Ability to work both independently with minimal direction and as a team player in a flexible and interdisciplinary environment.
o Eagerness to challenge yourself to learn new technologies in a fast-paced research and product-development environment.
• Preferred:
o Programming skills, including VB, VBA, MatLab, SQL, PHP, Perl, etc.
o Experience creating custom templates in Excel using macros. o Experience developing medical and analytical equipment. o Knowledge of electrochemistry, biosensors, and mass transport.
