2010 Summer Camp for Applied Language Exploration

The SCALE brings together researchers from across the country to advance human language technology in areas of national defense. There are a few spots available for undergraduates.  You should apply directly to the website. (The deadline does not apply to undergraduates).

SCALE is looking for US citizens, US citizens, who are proficient at computers and statistics.

Note that this is officially “summer employment.”  No course credit is offered.  A security clearance is required, but SCALE will facilitate the clearance process.

This is a unique opportunity to

DAAD RISE Programs in 2010

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) will offer three internships for summer 2010: RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering), RISE professional, and RISE in North America. RISE has established itself as an outstanding opportunity to combine serious research with a rewarding study-abroad experience.

RISE and RISE professional are for undergraduate students and graduate students respectively looking for a research internship in Germany.  RISE in North America is recruiting research groups and PhD. students interested in mentoring younger students for the summer from Germany.

ASEE/NSF Industrial Postdoctoral Program

Program Overview

The American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), in partnership with the National Science Foundation (NSF), has recently launched a Corporate Research Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.  This new program will provide 40 recent engineering PhD’s, including those qualifying from JHU, the opportunity to conduct research of great national interest in a corporate setting.

2010 REU in Nanotechnology at UMass Amherst

Program Overview

The 2010 Nanotechnology Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst is now accepting applications to its program.

The program runs for 10 weeks, June 1 - Aug 7, 2010.  Amherst will provide a $3400 stipend and free travel to campus and housing in their newest dormitory.  Students also participate in additional outside-the-lab academic and social activities with other REU students on campus.

Johnson and Johnson Six-Month Co-Op

Job Description:

The candidate will be responsible for developing and optimizing stable protein formulations and drug delivery systems to support early development projects at Centocor/Johnson and Johnson in Radnor, Pennsylvania. The responsibility will include designing and conducting laboratory experiments, executing various analytical techniques and interpreting experimental results, maintaining accurate records of all experiments and making well structured, data driven decisions. The candidate should be able to communicate results effectively and will be expected to present data in verbal and written reports. Additional responsibility will include formulation studies supporting other multifunctional projects in the group.
