EPA Student Career Experience Program
Representatives from the EPA will come to talk about their Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) at 5 PM in the Sherwood Room.
The SCEP is a special paid internship designed to provide students currently enrolled in a degree program with paid work experience that compliments their academic program, and to introduce them to Federal government career opportunities. Upon completion of the required number of work hours (generally 640 hours before graduation), and graduation, students become eligible for direct hire into the Federal government for the type of position for which they have trained.
Positions
There are ten positions available: biologist trainee (J-Connect ID 12711), chemist trainee (12712), economist trainee (12713), environmental or chemical engineer trainee (12714), environmental protection specialist trainee (12715), financial specialist trainee (12716), information technology specialist (12717), physical scientist trainee (12718), program analyst trainee (12719), and toxicologist trainee (12720).
Requirements
U. S. Citizen
Minimum 2.95 GPA on a 4.0 scale
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree-granting program and in good academic standing
Recommended by the university (faculty recommendation)
Student and university adviser must enter into agreement with EPA about terms of the program
Basic background investigation
Individual opportunities may require specific majors or additional qualifications.

To date, over 65% of our participating students have received offers of permanent employment with the Agency upon graduation and an additional 22% received offers from other Federal agencies.
Location
The opportunities are located in EPA Headquarters in Washington, DC or in our environmental forensics lab in Lakewood, CO (chemical engineers, toxicologists and chemists only). Positions are available throughout the academic year and the summer but not all positions are available at all times.
