Genentech Operations Rotational Development Program

The Operations Rotational Development Program gives recent graduates the opportunity to gain a broad  perspective on the core Genentech Technical Operation functions that are critical to the manufacture of Genentech products. ORDP takes place over a two-year period and involves four six-month rotational assignments within the Genentech Technical Operation (GT) Organization, including Engineering, Facilities (Integrated Maintenance & Site Services Operations), Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Process Development, and Quality. The rotations are tailored to provide challenging and meaningful assignments, training in technical and managerial skills, and coaching with assignment managers and mentors.

Dr. Osi Esue (JHU Alumnus) will be coming to JHU on 10/8, Thursday evening, 7:30 pm at Mason Hall Auditorium for an information session.  He will also speak to ChemBEs on Friday 10:00 am in Shaffer 303.

Training and development for ORDP Analysts includes:
* Four six-month rotational assignments within GT
* Formal training integrated with Genentech’s Learning and Development group
* Formal presentation opportunities at the completion of each assignment
* Informal learning opportunities such as Lunch and Learns, participation in the Buddy Program, and networking events
* Coaching through a Mentor Program

How ORDP Works
The program provides analysts with opportunities to design and implement new processes, develop product management expertise, lead world-class manufacturing, and be involved in processes that significantly drive business productivity and profitability.   Analysts will be responsible for projects on both an individual and team basis and will perform activities and functions as a member of their assigned department. Each analyst will partner with an assignment supervisor, who will guide them through the day-to-day activities of the department. Assignments last six months and are based on a combination of GT strategic objectives, specific departmental needs, technical qualifications (coursework and degree), and interests of the ORDP analysts. Assignments are available at the South San Francisco, Oceanside, Vacaville and Hillsboro facilities. Throughout the rotational assignments, ORDP analysts are considered full-time employees of their assigned department and are eligible for Genentech’s standard vacation and benefits package. During the fourth and final rotational assignment, analysts will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at Genentech that meet analysts’ career goals and for which they are qualified.
