Positions at Genentech

Genentech has two open positions: one is for entry-level Ph.D’s and another is for BS/MS with relevent experience (2-4 yrs or strong industrial internships).

Responsibilities:

The candidate will work on technology development projects for process development and manufacturing. The projects include evaluation of new and novel sensor technologies in cell culture, purification, and analytical operations, PAT tools development and applications, new equipment design, testing and evaluation, and technology transfer to our internal and external manufacturing facilities. The projects are conducted in a variety of settings, including process development laboratories, pilot plant and large-scale manufacturing facilities.

Requirements:

BS/MS in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field and 2 to 4 years (post BS) of related experience are required. A second position is open for an entry level PhD graduate. Experience should include experimental work in laboratory or plant settings individually and/or in teams. The ideal candidate should be familiar with general sensor and analytical technologies in biotechnology processes. Experience with cell culture processes and process engineering are recommended. Strong chemical engineering principles (heat and mass transfer), statistics, experimental design, and general laboratory techniques are required. Other skills include strong problem solving and the ability to work independently and in teams. The candidate should also be highly motivated and have good interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills.

This is a position in the Process Development Engineering Department (PDE), an organization in Process Research and Development (PRD). PRD designs, delivers, and supports robust, cost-effective production methods and technologies to meet the needs of Genentech’s Research, Development, Commercial, and Production Operations groups. The group has long been recognized as a world leader in developing large-scale manufacturing processes, sophisticated analytical methods and effective drug delivery systems.
