Title of the position: Co-op in Biomaterials Science/Engineer
Overall responsibility: Responsible for testing and characterization of biomaterials and medical device prototypes.

Reports to: Manager of Materials Science and Engineering
Key areas of responsibility
* Mechanical analysis and testing of biomaterials according to ASTM standards, including tensile, shear, peel and adhesion testing
* Polymer processing and characterization
* Analyze the effect of the material on the biological response
* Sample preparation for mechanical testing, SEM, and optical analysis
Consults with
* Product Development Teams
* Chemistry, Biology and Analytical teams
* All levels of management
Qualifications
* Junior/Senior in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or other related field
* Laboratory research experience is a plus (academic or industry)
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Quick learner and able to handle multiple projects
* Good computer skills
* Ability to work in a dynamic, small medical device start-up
