Weekly:
•       Keswick Multi-Care Center Bingo and Social Hour   Fridays 1:45-4pm
Keswick Multi-Care Center is a nursing home that is walking distance from campus. We will assist residents in wheelchairs from their rooms to the auditorium for Bingo, help some play Bingo at 2:30 pm, and help with their Social Hour after Bingo.  The residents love visitors and extra attention, so this is a great way to help brighten someone’s day at the end of the week.  Email Neeta at nshroff1@jhu.edu if you’re interested!
•       Children’s House Arts and Crafts                             Sundays 5-7pm
Have fun doing arts and crafts with children staying at the Johns Hopkins Children’s House! These children have traveled from all over to be treated at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, and would enjoy something separate from hospital life. From paper-bag hand-puppets to bubbles, we work with whatever we’re given. Just don’t Jack Pollock each other.  Email Joe at Joetsao@jhu.edu if you’re interested, or just show up at the Charles Commons JHMI shuttle stop at 4:55.
Single Service:
•       Keswick Center Halloween Costume Judging        Friday, Oct 31 2pm
Every year the residents and staff at Keswick dress up and have a Halloween Costume Competition. Since we’re unbiased on the issue (unless your Grandma happens to live there), they would like to invite us to judge their costumes and pick the winners. Fun activity for the day of Halloween! We’ll give you an extra half volunteer hour if you come wearing a Halloween costume!  Contact Neeta at nshroff1@jhu.edu to sign up.
•       Relay for Life                                                          April 2009
Relay for Life honors cancer survivors, pays tribute to the lives lost to the disease, and raises money to help fight cancer.  We generally have a table with some sort of game/activity to raise money.  Registration if free before October 31st, so make sure to sign up even if you don’t know if you’ll be there.  Go to http://tinyurl.com/circlekrelay, click “Join Our Team” and then “Early Bird Registration”.  Email Sunny at mro3@jhu.edu if you have questions!
•       Division Hayride                                                      Nov 7 7-11pm
Our Circle K Division (Towson, UD, and a couple other schools) is having a hayride/bonfire at Milburn Orchards in Elkton, MD to get to know the members of our neighboring clubs.  It’s from 8-10pm, but we’ll be taking a van or car up at about 7pm.  It will be really fun and a good networking opportunity, so come out and join us!  Email Kari at ksepely1@jhu.edu for details.
•       M&T Band Competition                                        Nov 9 8am-3pm
There is a giant marching band competition at the M&T Bank stadium downtown, and they need volunteers to help it run smoothly.  I’ll have more details soon, but we need to know how many people are interested so that I can talk to the organizers.  Also, we need someone to organize the project!  Contact Kari at ksepely1@jhu.edu for more details.

4.      Other Volunteer Opportunities
•       Jones Falls Watershed Association                        Nov 8 9 am-12pm
This will be a restoration project of a city or county park. Details have not been released, but likely involved cleaning debris and planting trees. Contact Joe Tsao at JoeTsao@jhu.edu for details.
•       Campus Kitchens Project
CKP is a program that will begin early next semester, and is currently seeking potential volunteers interested in committing 1 hr of their time toward either cooking nutritious meals for community donation, or distributing these meals.  CKP will collect excess food that would otherwise go to waste, and will turn this food into hot meals that will be donated to various areas of need in the local community.  We are hoping to set up a regular schedule of volunteer shifts in the kitchen, and potential chefs will have to be trained and certified this semester, so if interested, please contact us at CKP@jhu.edu as soon as possible.
•       Study Buddy Program                                     Mondays 6-7pm
This program needs students who can tutor children (elementary and up) one-on-one at the Hampden Family Center. Tutors will get paired with a student, and will be expected to commit their Mondays from 6-7. The volunteers can use the campus shuttle to reach Hampden after 5 pm.  Contact Ash Raina at hfcvolunteer@gmail.com if you’re interested.
•       Waverly Tutorial Student Initiative
Volunteer as a tutor at the local public library (the Waverly branch of Enoch Pratt Free Library).  Clients of this program range from K-12.  This tutoring program aims to provide a much-needed service to the Waverly community, as well as to help connect the Hopkins community to its neighbors.  The library is within walking distance of campus, right across the street from the 32nd St. Farmers Market, about a 5 minute walk down 33rd St from Charles Commons.  Hours of operation for the tutoring program are: Mon and Wed 4-7:30 pm, Tues and Thurs 4-5:30pm, and Saturday 10am-1pm.  We ask for commitment to at least 1 hr of tutoring per week, but we are flexible and won’t mind cancellations as long as they are made beforehand.  Please contact Jessica Zha at jez@jhu.edu for more info on how to apply.
